History

History

The PIHF was established in 1990 under Marine Corps Order 5750.1, “Command Museums,” as a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Charitable and Membership organization to support the Parris Island Museum. The Letter of Incorporation and By Laws were approved by South Carolina Secretary of State, and the Depot’s Commanding General authorized the operation of the gift shop shortly thereafter.

Parris Island Museum is housed in the War Memorial Building on Panama Street. Built in 1951, this historic structure is a monument to Marines of the past as a source of inspiration for the future. Act now to support the museum in maintaining historical archives, manuscript collections, and a library.

Help preserve 10,000 square feet of Marine history!

Your donation to the Parris Island Heritage Foundation helps preserve the legacy and history for future generations. Contributions support the museum’s exhibits, educational programs, and the upkeep of artifacts that honor the sacrifices and achievements of Marines throughout history. 100% of every donation, big or small, goes toward our programs and is deeply appreciated.
